Open Heart Advocates (formerly Advocates Crisis Support Services of Craig) was founded in 1978 and has served the Craig and Moffat County area continually for 37 years. Open Heart Advocates is the sole provider of victims’ advocacy and victims’ services in Moffat County. All services are confidential and there is no charge for Open Heart Advocates services and support.

I AM IN CRISIS
My husband is physically abusive and I need a safe place to stay. I’ve been sexually assaulted by a coworker. I’m a teen whose in an uncomfortable situation. I’ve been raped and I don’t know what to do. I need help placing a restraining order. I am an immigrant that needs legal protection. I have documents in English that I need help understanding. I’m queer and I’m a victim of a hate crime.

I AM A FAMILY MEMBER
I suspect my child has been violated and I don’t know where to turn. My daughter is in an abusive relationship. My family lives in fear of deportation and we need help with legal concerns. My daughter may have been date raped. My elderly parent is a victim of a crime. My gay son is being bullied. My son’s friend doesn’t seem to have a home and may be in trouble. My niece is being stalked.

I AM A COMMUNITY RESOURCE
I work in the schools and I’m interested in learning more about your awareness programs for young adults. I am a nurse and would like to learn more about joining your forensic and SART teams. I work for a local human service agency and I want to learn more about referrals and information. I am a lawyer and would like to donate my services. I’m a local counselor, how can I help?

Sept. 5 to 11 is National Suicide Prevention Week

The goal of National Suicide Prevention Week, held this year from Sept. 5 to 11, is to raise awareness and inform individuals about the actions they can take to prevent suicide from occurring in their own communities. It is an opportunity to reduce the stigma surrounding the topic, encourage mental health assistance and connect those at risk to invaluable resources.
